Program Overview

Through Our Eyes: “Reality, Resilience, and Change” is designed to combat anti-Black racism and hate crimes in Quebec through immersive learning, interactive workshops, and community dialogues. Using Virtual Reality (VR) storytelling, the project aims to build empathy, raise awareness, and develop practical skills for addressing systemic discrimination, anti-black racism and hate crimes. Concluding with a high-impact VR forum, the initiative showcases its progress and invites public and institutional engagement in combating hate and promoting inclusivity

Participation in this program will contribute to a vital VR project that aims to foster understanding, challenge biases, and promote positive change. By sharing their stories in VR, will not only contribute to a groundbreaking initiative but also help shape the future of anti-racism education and advocacy. Do not hesitate –their voice matters, and your experience is essential. Join us and help build a more inclusive and equitable world.

BCRC & VR

The ultimate ambition for this VR project extends beyond its creation, envisioning its widespread dissemination and impact. We aim to immerse the Black English community of Quebec in these themed VR experiences, showcasing them at local gatherings and prominent provincial and national events. This project is funded by Heritage Canada.

Further amplifying its reach, we plan to submit these prototypes to prestigious VR showcases and renowned film festivals like the Toronto International Film Festival and the Marche du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, seeking critical acclaim and industry recognition. Beyond the entertainment sphere, we aspire to integrate these VR creations into educational institutions and industry panel discussions, both within Quebec and across Canada, fostering dialogue and knowledge-sharing surrounding the project’s themes and innovative technology.
