About the Project
Funded by Canadian Heritage under the Multiculturalism and Anti-racism program, “Through Our Eyes” is designed to combat anti-Black racism and hate crimes in Quebec through immersive learning, interactive workshops, and community dialogues.
It uses Virtual Reality (VR) storytelling to build empathy, raise awareness, and develop practical skills for addressing systemic discrimination, anti-Black racism and hate crimes.
Concluding with a high-impact VR forum, “Through Our Eyes” showcases its progress and invites public and institutional engagement in combating hate and promoting inclusivity.

VR Vignettes
Overall, a total of seven (7) VR content pieces were created under the “Through Our Eyes” project. Each VR vignette/content reflects the lived realities and experiences of its creator, who told their story in a way that was meaningful to them. The expectation was that these stories would not only raise awareness but also highlight our collective responsibility to address anti-Black racism and other forms of race-based injustice. Ultimately, stories told using VR can deepen audience empathy by placing viewers inside a story rather than asking them to observe it from a distance.
